COVID-19 continues to change everything in our daily lives (including work) as we know it. Kansas 811 is always focused on safety and it is always top priority to protect our employees, members, excavators, and communities.
After much deliberation, it has been decided to offer a mix of in-person and hybrid approaches this year to achieve our 2022 education goals. Kansas 811 will also continue to have the on-line training module available.
In honor of August 11th being National 8-1-1 Day, Kansas 811 is running a survey contest that will be shared on our Facebook and Twitter channels on August 10th. 8-1-1 day is a day to teach others about the importance of getting their underground utilities marked before they dig, so the theme of our survey is where YOU first learned about Kansas 811. 5 lucky participants will be rewarded with a fabulous prize.
When the contest post is up on August 10th, followers will be asked to tell us all about where they first heard about Kansas 811 in the comments of the contest post. There will be choices A-H to choose from, but additional details are encouraged!
The following day (August 11th – 8-1-1 Day), we’ll publish the most popular answers and announce our contest champions in a new post! The lucky winners will receive a Visa gift card. It’s a great way to learn about the best ways to share the safe digging message, and possibly win a prize!
Follow Kansas 811 on Facebook to be the first to know when the contest is published.
In honor of April being National Safe Digging Month, Kansas 811 is putting your “digging” skills to work with 15 fun contests that will be shared on our Facebook and Twitter channels. Spring into damage prevention education while competing for a fabulous prize.
Every other day in April, we’ll publish a new contest question on our social media. Your job? Read the question, like the post, and leave your answer in the comments! For the dig law-related subjects – you may want to check out our website and “dig up” the facts.
The following day, we’ll publish the correct answers and announce our contest champion in the comments of the original contest post! The lucky winner will receive a Visa gift card. It’s a great way to test your safe digging knowledge, get familiar with the Kansas 811 website, and possibly win a prize!

COVID-19 has changed everything in our daily lives (including work) as we know it. As we hope you know, Kansas 811 is always focused on safety and it is always top priority to protect our employees, members, excavators and communities.
After careful deliberations on how to best and most safely hold our 2021 Kansas 811 excavator training meetings, it has been decided to use a hybrid approach this year. Kansas 811 will make available two separate and unique training vehicles to achieve our 2021 education goals.
Please remember that Kansas law requires that excavators ALWAYS file a locate request with Kansas 811 for ANY digging that is being done, even during this national health emergency.
We would like to remind everyone that all facets of the excavating industry (whether an excavator, homeowner, facility owner, locating company or one-call notification system) are coping with the effects of the pandemic and, as a result, everyone’s resources may be affected.
Please be aware that this may have an impact on the underground utilities’ ability to respond to all 811 excavation notification requests in a timely manner as defined by law.
Therefore, please make sure that ALL underground utilities have responded prior to digging, because it is possible there may be delays as companies deal with COVID-19.
Kansas 811 requests that you use ITIC for all your non-emergency requests whenever possible by going to www.kansas811.com. Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented time.
