The Call Before You Dig 8.11k and 5k

The Call Before You Dig 8.11k hosted by Black Hills Energy & Kansas 811 benefiting Construction Angels is proud to present the inaugural Call Before You Dig 8.11K on August 14, 2022 at Sedgwick County Park.  The event promises to be a fun, competitive, and memorable 8.11K (5.04 miles).  NEW FOR 2022 – The option to run/walk 5K.  Are you more comfortable with a 5K?  Then this event is for you.  You now have the option to run/walk 8.11K OR 5K.  The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages.  Each participant will receive a great event package, which includes a custom race bib with RFID timing tag, event shirt, beautiful finisher medal, personalized race completion digital certificate, and goodie bag.  The event is a chipped timed event.  Awards will be provided to the top 3 overall and within each age group.  Join us for this unique distance around a most scenic course in Kansas.

The Call Before You Dig 8.11K will provide a festive and partylike atmosphere.  Our DJ and MC will keep you moving and grooving, and wanting more.  You will not want to miss this event.  The earlier you sign up, the more you will save.

After careful deliberations on how to best and most safely hold our 2021 Kansas 811 excavator training meetings, it has been decided to use a hybrid approach this year. Kansas 811 will make available two separate and unique training vehicles to achieve our 2021 education goals.

COVID-19 Pandemic Impact Statement

Kansas 811 continues to process locate requests. 

Please remember that Kansas law requires that excavators ALWAYS file a locate request with Kansas 811 for ANY digging that is being done, even during this national health emergency.

We would like to remind everyone that all facets of the excavating industry (whether an excavator, homeowner, facility owner, locating company or one-call notification system) are coping with the effects of the pandemic and, as a result, everyone’s resources may be affected. 

Please be aware that this may have an impact on the underground utilities’ ability to respond to all 811 excavation notification requests in a timely manner as defined by law.

Therefore, please make sure that ALL underground utilities have responded prior to digging, because it is possible there may be delays as companies deal with COVID-19.
